Introducing Damien Marney

Damian has recently joined the Moncrieff service team as a Consulting Engineer. Damian is a highly skilled and experienced System Engineer with over 20 years’ experience.  In this time, Damian has acquired certifications in Microsoft (MCSE), Citrix, VMWare, Cisco and HP Storage.

Damian has experience with large environments, having managed environments that supported 20,000 users. He has extremely strong Citrix and VMWare skills to complement the obligatory Microsoft skills needed at his level.  He has upgraded Exchange environments to 2013 and has designed and delivered migrations to Microsoft Office 365 in the cloud.

His experience is wide and varied including responsibility for end to end design, technical lead, implementation and ongoing support across a broad array of solutions, primarily on Wintel technology. He has worked in a pre-sales and a consulting basis. Designed IT solutions to meet client’s business requirements and deliver ground up solutions traversing hardware infrastructure, software through to the end client experience.

Damian’s skill set and experience with large SOE/MOE projects and Virtual Desktop (VDI) Technology will allow Moncrieff to expand our traditional PC life cycle management solutions and integrating it with and our mobility practice enabling Moncrieff to provide organisations with consulting, PoC’s and projects for the implementation of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).  This is enabling clients to reduce desktop management costs while providing an agile platform to enable innovation and mobile access to information whilst providing increased data and IP security.

Overview of Damian’s most recent project

This project was a client infrastructure refresh for a 700 user environment (XPffice 2003 to Windows 7Office 2010), addressing 3 key areas

• Thin Clients
• PCLaptop systems
• Citrix Infrastructure

The major goals were to provide a central management environment for the COM fleet and a Managed Operating Environment (MOE).

Thin Clients (Citrix Clients)

• Deployment of HP Device Manager to centrally manage Linux and Windows Embedded clients
• Built and centrally deployed base images to the fleet via the toolset.

PCLaptop

• Designed and built an SCCM 2012 R2 solution for the Managed Operating Environment (MOE).
• Packaged the majority of core business applications for delivery by AD group assignment, outside of the base image.
• Built, tested, packaged and deployed the image to the fleet using (OSD) SCCM PXE or native client deployment.

Citrix Infrastructure

• Migration from Metaframe to Xenapp 6.5
• Configuration of Citrix provisioning services for disk presentation to Xenapp and VMware Horizon View
• Configuration of Netscaler and Web interface for mobile, remote and internal clients.
• Configuration, testing and delivery of COM Line of Business applications via Xenapp
• Design, Configuration and deployment of App-v 5 as a framework for legacy application support
• Delivered Legacy application support via a Citrix in Citrix approach (New Farm servers, Citrix client configured to reference the old Office 2003 environment)

VMware Horizon View Proof of Concept (POC)

• Design, configuration and deployment of View desktops for the public library access systems
